German artist Thomas Zika is working with photography. He took pictures in an off-balance habitat near Essen, Germany. In his project „Sovereign Fruits“ he pretreats his analogue film material with mushrooms before exposing to light. The fungi spores produce extremly delicate lamellar aureoles wchich appear as a mix of explosion and aura. These experiments lead to beautiful chaotic pictures. In his poetic essay the artist reflects upon the possibillities of a sustainable balance by learning from mushrooms.
The artist book comes with an essay by the author. It is published via BLURB and available as an E-book with fixed layout as well as a printed book on Mohawk Superfine Eggshell Paper.
